Mrs. Mac was an elderly lady that lived a few doors down from my parent's milk bar, making her a regular customer. She was part of a family that didn't look after themselves so my memories of her are with greasy unbrushed hair and grotty clothes. Mrs. Mac was much friendlier than other's in her family and I think, enjoyed to come in for a chat. I remember cringing when my parent's told her that it was my birthday (maybe my 10th) and she gave me a hug and a kiss. It might not have been so bad if she didn't have all kinds of old spilt food all down her jumper. The thought was there though.
